We were founded in 1969 by members of eleven churches located in the western suburbs of Syracuse for the purpose of providing a variety of services, including hot meals to the elderly and the infirm.   ECHO stood for Ecumenical Churches Helping Others.

In the beginning, meals were prepared by volunteer cooks in their own homes and delivered by volunteer drivers.  Today we are a non-profit corporation under the name ECHO Meals on Wheels West, Inc., and we prepare our meals in a fully equipped commercial kitchen in the Camillus Town Hall.  We now call ourselves Ecumenical Community Helping Others and continue to receive a strong backing from our inter-faith community.
